A weekly Bible Study on One Page

LATEST STUDY: August 29, "On Getting Ahead"
During the summer of 2008, some members of the Montreal congregation talked with me about Bible Study. We agreed that it was difficult to have an ongoing Bible Study because of people's schedules, attendance has always been erratic and to have it on our church day adds something more to an already busy schedule. It was suggested that I write something that could be distributed to the churches that I serve and, during discussion, the idea of something short, but with leading questions, as a format was suggested.
I went to work at first wondering how to go about it. Soon, though, I landed on a source for weekly passages in the Revised Common Lectionary, used by some more liturgical churches, which offers four weekly Sunday readings, as well as for the celebration days like Easter, the days of Holy Week, Christmas, and so on. I began reading through the readings early in each week, writing down the ideas. From this, there's always one that jumps out at me, and that becomes the passage for the weekly "Single Page."
As you may know, the Lectionary is divided into three years, so there will be no repetition of passages, aside from some celebration days, for at least three years. Since August, 2008, these weekly studies have been emailed to those of the congregations I serve each Friday evening, or sooner in the week, if I would be away for Friday, and there have been many positive comments.
It is my hope that these may now enrich a wider studying audience.
